Earned media is essentially other people talking about or producing content related to you and/or your business without receiving payment. This is why it is often called “free media.”
While earned media still includes the daily news and radio interviews, the landscape has shifted to also include social media posts, online reviews, and more.
Spending time on your online reputation such as news coverage, organic SEO, and customer reviews can help increase business and best of all… it’s free!
Types of Earned Media
If you’re not already, you should be paying attention to the areas of marketing that are FREE especially if you’re a small business! Marketing isn’t always expensive billboards, magazine spots, paid keyword search, and Facebook ads. Sometimes it’s keeping your Google listing and website up to date, posting regularly on social media, and incentivizing your current customers to refer new business.
